Government
The government of Poseid was a democrocy, which ment the people of the city voted on the city's decisions. Although the city was a democracy and the citizens voted, they did not vote on every single issue. Voting was limited to only adult males who completed their three years in the military. These citizens voted on representative that were sent to the senate of 101 people. Citizens elected senators, that they felt expressed an interest for making the city state a better place. Every year there was a public voting in which new senetors were elected to replace ones that were unfit for their jobs. For example, if a senator abused their power, then they were kicked out of office and replaced. The senate was incharge of creating laws and regulating trade.
All of the decision regarding the military forces were made by the counsel. The counsel consisted of ten revered military veteranes also elected by the people of Posied. The leaders decided when war was appropriate. They also controlled the generals which commanded other military officials. Like the senate, council men terms lasted a lifetime unless the citizens believed they didn't fulfill their position, in which event they were kicked out and replaced. Both the council and the senate had an odd number of members to prevent from ties while voting.
